If there is interest I can post the collations on AEL, especially since a few students were doing the same reading here. best, Karen ============================================================================== From: Shmakov Timofey To: Ancient Egyptian Language List Subject: AEL Re: Proposal about the identification of the sign Aa14 Date: Thu, 18 Nov 2010 21:26:05 +0300 Dear listmembers, I would like to make the following proposal about the identification of the sign Aa13-16 which seems to be a discovery: The sign Aa13/Aa14/Aa15/Aa16, having the phonetic value /jm/ or /gs/ (in /gs/ "side") and which is treated as unknown, represents IMO {wooden plow with handles and frame mounting a nearly vertical massive wooden spike} which is clear from its shape in the spelling of the name of the god Imseti (jmstj) on the canopic box of Senebi (MMA 11.150.17a, cf. also its crooked form in PT ยง552b), Coffin of Ukhhotep (MMA 12.182.132a, b) and his canopic chest (MMA 12.182.133a, b) - you can find them on the MMA site http://www.metmuseum.org. In the usual (stylized) O.
