From: "KMOTC" To: , "Ancient Egyptian Language List" Subject: AEL SCARAB PROJECT JOIN THE YAHOO GROUP FOR HMWK SUBMISSIONS Date: Tue, 19 Dec 2006 23:21:29 -0600 Hey Gang, thanks for your extreme patience. we are finally ready to get our Scarab Project off the ground ( : For those who are just following along--the first collation will be delayed as we are still in the setting up process. For those of you actively participating with the Scarabs--read on. I have a list of volunteers and I have created us a backup list (to make sure I get all your emails) over on Yahoogroups. I have sent invitations to subscribe to the the names listed at the bottom of this email. Please check for your name as your moderator is apt to lose a few folks as she gets things set up-types in a few wrong emails --that sort of thing--but -eventually things work themselves out. Please accept the invitation to join AEL TranslationGroup on Yahoogroups when it arrives in your mailbox. The group is by invitation only so if you didn't get one, then you have to tell me that I need to send it again. If I have missed you--please draw it to my attention. put Scarab List in the subject of your email. If you didn't get an invitation --maybe your email provider or spam program blocks any mail that looks like list mail--let me know. If you want in and have not said so before--let me know that too --first and last name and an email address for me to send you an invitation. Once everyone is signed up at the new group--AEL TranslationGroup, that is where you will submit your scarab lines. For the first one (Scrab #3 the lion hunt,) which is the shortest and so the one we should do to start us out, send your lines to the list. One line per email. This is so I can collate each line So for the Lion hunt scarab we submit one line per week (because we are doing only 3 lines total) For the next one it's two lines per week but they must be in separate emails It sounds like more work than it is really, you just have to get into the habit. The Allen HmwkVolunteers have managed quite nicely with this system and don't complain too loudly--at least not to my face Scarab 3.1 was assigned for this past Sunday, but I am stretching it out our deadline to anytime this week, so that everyone has time to get their work in and join the new list. If you have already submitted hmwk to me directly this time--you need not resend. I don't have a lot of it yet though. I am afraid I may have been less than clear on how we would proceed and no one has known where to send homework. You will need to join the Yahoogroup. If you are unwilling to do this for whatever reason, and still want to participate, you must let me know. Then you will have to send your hmwk to me directly--and make sure to attach a Read Receipt for each line, so you will know I have received it and opened it. That's why I like to do the Yahoo lists--as a backup, for when my email blocks a submission or something happens and mail gets lost--it happens a lot and the yahoo lists have proved the best remedy so far. So please send line one ( you may send your lines in early too at the list-since I have folders set up for them in my email and they will be waiting for me at the list if I need to collect them there.) If you have any questions please post me off list Don't forget to check for your name below. I sent invites to all of these names, but every time something goes amiss so I do not expect different results this time. If you see any misspellings, please draw my attention to that as well. We have quite a nice size group for this project. kmotc@swbell.net Volunteer Names Janice Bailey Donald Boozer Geoff Conwill John Davidson Jennie Davis Jonathan de Ramaix Paul Dickson Didier Dubois Andy Gardiner Allise Garrison Jean Gibson Tania Godwin-Evans Brigitte Goede Karen Hauck Josep Isern Christine Mair Angela Mann Jane Marinoni George McDowell Nick Mills Elena Moltchanova Dave Muller Mark Stott Raymond Usher- Cooper Mark Vygus Rich Weaver ============================================================================== From: "KMOTC" To: "AEL" , Subject: AEL SCARAB FOLKS, PLEASE SEND YOUR FIRST LINE FOR THIS WEEK Date: Thu, 21 Dec 2006 22:33:30 -0600 Hey everyone, I am waiting for some of you to join our new Yahoo group, AEL TranslationGroup, which is where we will post the lines for me to make the collations. Please accept your invite and if you did not receive one, please contact me with "Need Invite" in the subject line contact Karen at kmotc@swbell.net Then you should post your line for this week --we are beginning with the Lion hunt stele #3 Scarab 3.1 to AEL TranslationGroup You join the group then mail your lines to the list, one line per email. This is my backup security system to make sure I get eveyone's submissions. When they don't come in to my mail box, I can pick then up at the list site. This week while we are working out the bugs you can send me your lines directly, but please join the list- -you must have an invitation though, because I set it up as a closed list---that way there will be no spam--since only Scarab volunteers will be on the list. Even those of you who have already sent me lines directly--join up so I can check you off the paperwork--I have a list of those of you who volunteered and I would like to get hmwk from each of you before doing the collation. best, Karen ==============================================================================
